Children of all ages will soon enjoy hours of fun riding the waterslides at the Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre (PARC) with work completed to build two state of the art feature waterslides.

Local Federal MP for Dunkley, Bruce Billson, today joined the Mayor of Frankston, Cr Darrel Taylor to announce the completion of work to build the water slides which will be functional when the centre opens later this year.

“The waterslides are a key highlight of the centre and take riders inside and outside of the complex,” Mr Billson said.

“Once completed, the park will provide first class health, fitness and wellness services to the regional community, and offer hours of entertainment and leisure opportunities for children and adults of all ages and abilities.

“The newly constructed centre will be the Peninsula’s premier aquatic, fitness and fun park.”

The Mayor of Frankston, Cr Darrel Taylor, said work was progressing well and the completed slides included the world’s first AquaSphere Family Raft Ride.

“The new AquaSphere Family Raft Ride features high-speed twists and drops, fully enclosed spheres and 90 degree corners,” Cr Taylor said.

“The family slide complex will also include an interactive aquatic playground for young children and will provide hours of entertainment and fun for the community.”

Mr Billson also announced applications for the Local Sporting Champion Grants had opened which provide $500 to help students aged between 12 and 18 pursue their sporting dreams.

“The program is designed to help local young sports stars and teams compete in significant sporting competitions, including state and national championships.

“There are 11 Local Sporting Champion Grants up for grabs and I encourage all future sports stars to consider applying,” Mr Billson said.
