Local business to host charity golf day
Wednesday 28 October 2015:
Joint media release with local business Vertical Matters.
Local businesses and golfing enthusiasts who would like to enjoy fun day out while supporting a worthwhile cause are encouraged to attend the upcoming WaterAid Golf Charity Day at The National in Frankston.
Frankston technology company Vertical Matters is proud to be supporting the event, which will raise much needed funds for critical water, sanitation and hygiene projects across the developing world.
The Federal Member for Dunkley Bruce Billson MP and a range of other businesses are also involved in the charity day.
Courtney Smith, Director of Vertical Matters said, “It’s an honour to be running a charity golf day to support such a great cause. It’s going to be a great opportunity for businesses around the area to rub shoulders and have some fun. We have some surprises up our sleeve so everyone had better come prepared!”
Bruce Billson MP said he was looking forward to joining the community and local businesses for such a valuable cause.
“Golfing people know that a ‘gimmie’ is when a player lets another assume a putt has gone in the hole without playing the shot.
“It is this kind of golfing goodwill we are trying to harvest to raise some funds to help less fortunate people have a better shot at life,” Mr Billson said.
“In our community, we take clean, fresh water and sanitation for granted. The reality for many developing countries though is very different- Worldwide, the water and sanitation crisis is the second biggest killer of children under five.
“While I certainly wouldn’t classify myself a golf pro, I am looking forward to a fun day out with members of the community who are in a position to participate.
“I commend Vertical Matters for supporting this worthwhile charity event.”
It will be held on Friday 13th November at The National (nee Long Island Country Club), Dandenong Road, Frankston. Tee off is at 12.30pm and the $85 fee will include lunch, green fees and post-round snacks. Participants will be encouraged to match the green fees with a donation to WaterAid.
