Older Australians, younger people with disability and their carers in Mornington, Frankston, Mount Eliza and Baxter will be supported to stay in their own homes with almost $350,000 in Australian Government funding.

The funding is being provided under the Government’s Home and Community Care (HACC) program and will be shared between six local providers.

Our aged and disabled should, where possible, have a choice in how they receive care.   Some citizens prefer to stay in their own homes, where they have been for many years in familiar surroundings and have fond memories.

This HACC funding will assist local older Australians and disabled youth to be able to stay at home while receiving the professional care they need.

The funding pays for home services such as personal care, property maintenance, nursing, occupational therapy and respite.

Mayor of Frankston City Council Sandra Mayer said the $104,000 funding would assist with the Council’s objective of keeping people living independently in their own homes for longer, to take the pressure off Residential Aged Care.

“This much-needed funding will provide additional hours for in-home domestic and personal care services. It will not only help to address the growing demand for aged care in Frankston, it will provide support for those in our community who need that extra bit of assistance,” said the Mayor.
