258 new aged care places for Dunkley

30 January 2015:

258 new aged care places will be delivered in Dunkley, estimated to be worth more than $13 million.

The places include 178 residential care places and 80 homecare places.

These much needed places will help meet the demand for aged care and support people to stay in their own home for longer.

Our older Australians should have a choice in aged care services, and want and deserve to live active and healthy lives. Providing both residential and in-home places enables them to do this.

They have been made possible thanks to Commonwealth Government funding of more than $10.5 million for local Residential Care places and over $2.7 million for local Home Care places under the 2014 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR).

ACAR is part of the Commonwealth Government’s strategy to support our senior citizens and plan for an ageing population, which are critical to maintaining our standard of living and building a strong, secure economy.

This ACAR was competitive, showing renewed interest in aged care, following recent changes aimed at making services viable, reducing providers’ compliance burden and increasing business flexibility.

I welcome these changes, which are in line with my commitment as Small Business Minister to reducing red and green tape so businesses can spend more time thriving.

Congratulations to the successful providers.
