Nominate a local for the 2015 Australian of the Year Awards

Local Federal MP Bruce Billson is encouraging the community to nominate inspirational Australians for the 2015 Australian of the Year Awards.

Mr Billson said the awards recognise remarkable people who inspire, achieve and work hard to build a stronger and safer community.

“The awards celebrate the achievements of every day Australians from all walks of life that excel in their commitment to making the world a better place for others,” said Mr Billson.

“Each year, the Australian of the Year Awards recognise 128 remarkable Australians from all States and Territories.

“Our community is full of great Australians and the awards provide a great opportunity to thank them for the work they do.

“It only takes one nomination for someone to be considered for the Awards and your nomination could be the one to uncover the next Australian of the Year.

“Nominations close on 1 August and I encourage the community to show their support for our everyday heroes by nominating for the Awards.”

Nominations are open across four categories:

• Australian of the Year
• Senior Australian of the Year (60 years and over)
• Young Australian of the Year (16-30 years)
• Australia’s Local Hero

Nominations for all Award categories can be made online at australianoftheyear.org.au or by calling 1300 655 193.
