Dunkley community encouraged to attend Anzac Day services

Local Federal MP, Bruce Billson, today encouraged the Dunkley community to remember Australian servicemen and women from all wars and conflicts and pay their respect by attending local Anzac Day services.

Dawn services, marches and commemoration services will be held at various locations in Frankston, Mornington, Mt Eliza and Seaford.

Anzac Day is one of the most important dates in our commemorative calendar and with 2,000 Australian Defence Force personnel currently deployed overseas, it’s important to take a moment to reflect and recognise all the men and women who served our nation in wars, conflicts and on peacekeeping operations.

For more than a decade our troops have been continuously deployed on operations overseas, often in complex, challenging and extremely dangerous environments.

We thank all servicemen and women for their service and for risking their lives in honour of our country.

In August this year we will mark the commemoration of the First World War and celebrate almost 2,000,000 men and women who have worn the uniform of the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian Army and the Royal Australian Air Force with pride.

Anzac Day can be a difficult time for some and if you or a loved one needs help, free confidential counselling and crisis support service is available to veterans and current serving ADF members, and their families, 24 hours a day by phoning Veterans’ Line on 1800 011 046 (international: +61 8 8241 4546).
